VIDEOGAME FOR PC AND CONSOLE
Dancing with Introverts
Console (Switch, PS5)
Onward and the creative team at Dancing with Introverts joined forces to develop a 2D adventure game with a high narrative value for a global market. The player controls Flick, a posthuman that lives millions of years in the future and spends some time exploring the universe while harboring hope to find, at long last, some other living being to be friends with. In a reality in which affection has been commoditized, the player will explore a planetary system while solving puzzles to discover why humanity has forgotten how to love.
Tell a grown-up story, with complex and memorable characters for a global audience made up of men and women between 18 and 49 years of age. Enthusiastic consumers of audiovisual content and videogames, the 35 years-old-in-average gamer has a sophisticated taste and wants original content that is capable of surprising them. We also wanted to create a story that was relevant to the current zeitgeist, new and interesting for people from different tribes, countries, cultures that could have access to it instantly.
We set ourselves to tell a story about loneliness and human connection through a videogame because they have several advantages over other media: the player can experience actively the dilemmas and predicaments the character engages in, requiring her to be empathetic. Because of the narrative focus the game has, the player is pushed to explore the world, speak to the characters and solve the puzzles to make the story move on.
The game got funding for its production. We started developing an initial version to send to festivals all around the world. We are currently still developing the game and, at the same time, preparing a crowdfunding campaign.
